Friday afternoon, BC women's hockey coasted to a 5-0 win against the Black Bears in Orono. BC continued to skate on autopilot on Saturday, and despite the closer 3-1 final score , the game was never in doubt for the Eagles.

Driver hospitalized after car strikes trees

The accident happened around 10:09 a.m. when a black Ford Escape struck several trees and rolled over, resulting in one tree falling down on top of the car. Police said the driver James Chasse, 34, of Lebanon, Maine, was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Senators call for $1B for flu vaccine development

There's a push in Washington to spend $1 billion over the next five years to encourage the development of a universal flu vaccine. The new legislation, proposed by Connecticut U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey and several other fellow senators, comes as preliminary figures released Friday suggest the current vaccine is only 36 percent effective.
Maroons, slaves who escaped to the swamps, have history all their own

Massachusetts sticking with Northern Pass for now

Massachusetts officials have decided to stick with the Northern Pass project for now, though it will start negotiations with a second hydro project in a bid to deliver clean energy to their state by 2020. The Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources announced Friday that it would continue negotiations with Northern Pass until at least March 27. The project, set to deliver hydropower from Canada to customers in southern New England, was thrown into doubt after New Hampshire regulators rejected it this month.
